Jawad Hussain, MD
Dr. Hussain graduated from Boston University with a BA in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. He received his MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine as well as an MS in Physiology and Biophysics. He completed his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. He completed his fellowship in Vascular & Interventional Radiology at the University of Michigan. He has co-authored several articles in Radiology journals.
His areas of expertise in the field of Interventional Radiology include the treatment of vertebral compression fractures, uterine fibroids, IVC filter retrieval, deep vein reconstruction, and the treatment of liver cancer. Dr. Hussain serves on the Credentials Committee for Memorial Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Hussain specializes in transcatheter embolization to treat uterine fibroids and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). He has a special interest in treating vertebral compression fractures and in treating benign thyroid nodule with ablation therapy. His experience also includes performing kyphoplasties and sacroplasties.
Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. His hobbies include trying out new recipes and staying active.

Namit Mahajan, MD
Dr. Namit Mahajan is a board-certified interventional radiologist who has been with Commonwealth Radiology for over 7 years. He currently serves as the medical director of the interventional radiology section.
He attended medical school at St. Louis University in Missouri. After completing his radiology residency at Loyola University in Chicago, he subspecialized in interventional radiology with fellowship training at Brown University in Rhode Island. He has co-authored medical publications and presented at national interventional radiology meetings.
Dr. Mahajan specializes in uterine fibroid embolization, prostate artery embolization for benign prostatic hyperplasia, treatment of liver and kidney tumors (Yttrium-90, cryoablation), thyroid nodule ablation, male and female varicocele embolization, treating varicose veins of the legs, IVC filter removal, biliary and portal vein interventions, and pain management/ kyphoplasty.
He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and young daughter. He loves traveling, skiing, cheering on Chicago sports teams, and exploring the Richmond culinary scene.

Nathan Ogden, MD
Dr. Ogden graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine. He completed an internship in General Surgery at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Subsequently, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he completed his Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellowship. He is board eligible in Interventional Radiology. He has co-authored Radiology journal and textbook publications. His many professional interests include oncology, hepatobiliary intervention, hemodialysis graft/fistula intervention, uterine fibroid embolization, and treatment of vertebral compression fractures.
Outside of work, Dr. Ogden enjoys exploring Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains with his wife, stargazing, and sampling Richmond’s excellent food scene. He is an avid fan of music and science fiction.

Avinash Pillutla, MD
Dr. Avinash Pillutla graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Systems and Information Engineering. He then went on to Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine to complete a Doctorate in Medicine. Next, he pursued medical training at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System to become dual board-certified in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. As a resident he first-authored a manuscript publication, engaged in book contributions, presented at educational conferences, participated in multiple lecture presentations, and co-authored in multiple scientific exhibits. He served as the Radiological Society of North America representative for his residency program, and actively participated in the resident and fellow section of the Society of Interventional Radiology. During the course of training he attained the distinction of Alpha Omega Alpha, served as Chief Radiology Resident, and was selected for the M. Pinson Neal Jr. MD Outstanding Resident Award by the Department of Radiology. He loves practicing all facets of Vascular and Interventional Radiology including Interventional Oncology, Hepatobiliary and Portal Interventions, Genitourinary Interventions, and a variety of Arterial and Venous Interventions.

Taylor Powell, MD
Taylor Powell, MD joined Commonwealth Radiology, PC as of August 2023. Dr. Powell graduated from Yale University with an integrated residency in diagnostic and interventional radiology in June of 2023.
Dr. Powell received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2017. He completed an internship in generals urgery at VCU in 2018. While attending medical school at VCU, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
He graduated with Distinction from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 2013.
Dr. Powell has experience in all diagnostic modalities with interests in vascular imaging, including vascular ultrasound.
He has a certification as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). Dr. Powell’s arterial interventional experience includes the breadth of embolizations including prostate, uterine, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, trauma, and oncologic as well as pulmonary artery thrombectomy.
His venous interventional experience includes venous thrombosis and venous insufficiency treatments, filter placement and retrieval, TIPS creation and revision, dialysis access interventions, and the spectrum of venous lines. Interventional oncology experience includes radioembolization, chemoembolization, ablations, and biopsies. His training also includes the breath of gastrointestinal, genitourinary, hepatobiliary, and transplant interventions.
Dr. Powell and his wife are from Virginia, and he is looking forward to practicing in the Central Virginia area.
